Re-entry & Recidivism Program

It is well known that successful reentry programs give former offenders opportunities to support themselves through legitimate and productive work, reducing recidivism and improving public safety. It is also statistically known that South Carolina has the lowest recidivism rate in the country.

Our organization maintains those facts by providing comprehensive strategies to prevent reentry and recidivism by utilizing lifestyle improvements, daily activities & wellness resources which are continuously implemented beyond those walls. Our organization recognizes the reality that four out of every five individuals who leave prison will return at some point in their future. Having an affective reentry process as a part of the True Heart Inc. Organization allows and incentivizes those who have left prison to become contributing members of society.

Our in-house providers and services help individuals to secure meaningful employment, stable housing, hygienic supplies and clothing, food, and stipends that meet with most monetary needs, as well as encourage them to stay on the path towards a better life.

Participants commit to a 12-18 month program that successfully places them back into society with, at minimum, their core needs being met. Our organization aspires to be a standard, evidence-based model displaying what is expected from a successful re-entry program which can be utilized through all organizations throughout the nation.

What You Should Know

Over 10,000 ex-prisoners are released from America’s state and federal prisons every week and arrive on the doorsteps of our nation's communities.

Assisting ex-prisoners in finding and keeping employment, identifying transitional housing, and receiving mentoring are three key elements of successful re-entry into our communities.

The US locks up more people per capita than any other nation, at the staggering rate of 698 per 100,000 residents.

In the United States there are over 1.3m people are incarcerated in state prisons; 631,000+ people incarcerated in local jails; 226,000 in federal prisons and jails.

74% of people held by jails are not convicted of any crime. Jail incarceration rates are driven by local bail practices.

"More than half of the formerly incarcerated are unable to find stable employment within their first year of return and three-fourths of them are rearrested within three years of release."

What We Plan To Do

EDUCATE

helping ex-offenders enroll in continuing education, vocational training, or completing their GED will help ensure they strive for better employment/entrepreneurial opportunities.

HOUSING

many offenders often return to prison due to the conditions of the environments they return to. We want to help find safe, adequate housing in better, flourishing neighborhoods instead of the disenfranchised areas they come from.

EMPLOYMENT

assisting ex-offenders with resume building, interviewing skills, and other job training skills is one of the many services True Heart will offer to help break the cycle of repeat offenders.
